The design and style of an event has the power to transport guests to a special place or special time. It can be based on an idea, a picture, music, or historical event. The entire event can be created from any one of these by a talented designer.
It first starts with a vision: For this event it was “music-1930s-Jazz” and location “Shanghai-China.”
The Elegant Music Jazz Trio with featured soloists performed at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel for the Methodist Hospital Holiday Party. This was a themed event designed and coordinated by Sherrien Shui based on the historical Paramount Ball Room of the Shanghai Peace Hotel in the 1930s. This was a big production that also included vocalists, dancers. Featured soloists were Dan Weinstein Coronet/Violin and Mike Nelson Clarinet/Sax and Flute. The evening was very well planned and went smoothly; meaningful toasts and presentations were given. Everyone dressed up. I wore my 1930’s tails. Everyone danced and had a good time.
Paramount Ball Room Jazz Band
Jazz music was first introduced to China during the Westernization Movement in the late 1800s. In the 1930s & 40s Shanghai became China’s center of jazz. Dazzling lights, vibrant music, elegant young men in suits and beautiful women dressed in sexy qipao were trademarks of the Paramount Ballroom. The Peace Hotel was an international thoroughfare for entertainment and meeting place for the elite of Shanghai society.
Congratulations Sherrien Shui Twogether Events on a beautiful event. It was fun recreating history with you.
Sincerely, Eric Zimmermann DJ/Master of Ceremonies, Pianist and Band Leader. Phone: 626-797-1795.
