Out Door Locations
In outdoor locations sound is absorbed by foliage. Then there is the occasional fountain sound, traffic, wind, and other competing sounds that tend to interfere or drown out a wedding ceremony. Note: Most wedding ceremony locations that have a fountain turn it off during the wedding ceremony.

Wedding On The Beach
On the beach, there are no walls just lots of space and the din of the ocean and wind; sand absorbs sound. So a string quartet for a wedding ceremony on the beach might look nice in the pictures but will not be easily heard without amplification. Note: There is usually no electricity on the beach either. Then there is the issue of “shade” for the musicians and their instruments, bridesmaids and stilettos and sand, etc…

In Southern California we are blessed with perfect weather most of the time and practically unlimited out door wedding locations and so wedding ceremonies can be out doors.
Each wedding location is unique with its own set of acoustical properties. Will I need amplification for my wedding? When choosing an ensemble it would be a good idea to discuss this with musicians who are familiar with how sound travels and is reflected. It may be that your location will require amplification for the ensemble so that the sound is full and satisfying.
Elegant Music has provided Live Music, DJ Dance Music and Professional Announcing in some of the most beautiful locations throughout Southern California since 1990. The Elegant Music Quartet comes with amplification and has a full sound in any location.
